New Website and New Me

I’ve been working hard the last few days to get EmSun’s reality lined up with my vision. I think I’m a lot closer to how I see it with this new site update. You’ll notice that the layout is different, www.emsun.org is the domain (instead of www.emeraldsunshine.org – although that refers back to emsun.org), and the home page is no longer the blog. I have big changes coming in my life and I needed the homepage space for different projects. Most of your links should...

Splish, Splash Water Play

Four children are currently living with me. Denny, my teenage brother, moved out and left Aaron and me with the following ages: (almost) eight, (almost) six, four, and two. I’m also sixteen weeks pregnant (yeah!) which apparently means that I’m cranky and have less energy than usual. Hey Guys! Guess what! I’m going to have a baby!

I’ve been really quiet lately and I’ve got a good reason for it: drama, trauma, and unending nausea. I was very disappointed, but figured I would wait it out....

Monday and Tuesday of last week chugged along pretty well, but then on Wednesday I got hit by a double-whammy – swimmer’s ear and a middle ear infection. The throbbing spiking pain removed any chance that I’d be doing anything besides lying on my couch. Thursday I still wasn’t feeling great, so I mainly slept. Friday was my birthday. I spent the morning volunteering in a local greenhouse and then the afternoon was spent talking about legalizing urban chickens in Mount...

My heart was sad because his was devastated.

My heart was sad because his was devastated.

A Facebook remix: As kids we don’t understand that when we are heartbroken, our parents are twice as heartbroken. I had the chance to experience that this weekend when my son entered into the local pinewood derby. He’d spent hours dreaming and planning and designing – thinking about his ideal car. He and Aaron worked on it, although Aaron mainly let Nate run the show, and Nate was really excited. His face when his car didn’t even make it across the finish line in all...
