Usborne Gift Ideas for Many Occasions

Struggling to come up with gifts for all of the miscellaneous occasions during the year? Usborne Books and More has some possible answers for you.

  • Birthday: Perform a search on my Usborne website for a topic regarding the birthday person’s main interests.
  • High School Graduation: Give the budding adult (especially if they are just learning to cook) the gift of a cookbook such as: 30 Healthy Things to Cook and Eat, 30 Yummy Things to Bake, or Thirty Easy Things to Cook and Eat. Pair this with some cooking utensils.
  • Wedding: 100 Things to Spot in the Night Sky paired with a thick, warm blanket and a bottle of wine or a favorite non-alcoholic beverage. What could be better than cuddling with your new sweetheart under our gorgeous night sky? Perhaps you could even include a candle and some finger food or a picnic basket!
  • New Neighbors: Did you happen to notice if they have kids? Bring over a housewarming dish (maybe prepared from one of our cookbooks?) and Moving House, Moving House Sticker Book, or perhaps a kid kit to keep those children busy and help those potentially frazzled parents have peace and quiet to unpack!
  • Mother’s/Father’s Day: Kid kits, kid kits, kid kits! Have I mentioned kid kits? Pick out something that the honored parent can do with their child or pick out something that the child can tackle solo and give the gift of some time alone!
  • New Babysitter: Know of a young one new to babysitting or perhaps your family is getting a new babysitter? Put together a “toolbox” from Activity and Spotter Cards (these can even be punched and put onto a ring!), Kid Kits, or Arts and Crafts books! Help them create confidence and promote education instead of mindless television and movie watching. Match up one or more of these ideas with some standard picture books or even the touchy-feely books for infants! Need another way to keep younger children busy? How about a 1001 (Things) To Spot book?
  • New Parent: Offer to host an Usborne babyshower for the new parent(s). Invite all your (mutual or not) friends and family and give all the free books to the new parent(s)! What an excellent way to provide the gift of literacy to many individuals while simultaneously stocking up the new family!
  • Vacation: Browse through the Spotters Cards or encyclopedias for items that relate to the vacation. Purchase some activity cards and punch a hole in them. Place them on an o-ring and carry them around to help alleviate boredom in car rides or while waiting in lines.
  • Want to make an impact on your community?: Host an e-show or a home show and donate all of the free books you earn to a charity of your choice. Perhaps you’d like to donate the free books from your show to give gifts to strangers, your local preschool or public school, your local daycare or nursery, to Toys for Tots, or to a person listed on a card from the tree (the ones normally found in your local grocery store). Perhaps the free books could be donated to your church, synagogue, mosque or other religious organization. Again, what is better than giving the gift of literacy? Don’t want to go through the easy process of hosting a show? You could always purchase and donate the books outright and pass compassion and literacy forward.

I hope these ideas help! Do you have any additional ideas?

Current Event

To kick off the holiday shopping season, I will be hosting an open house on Friday, November 26th at my home from 1 pm to 5 pm. Stop by at any time to browse the catalog, ask questions, or view a sample of the books. Snacks will be provided! Simultaneously, I will be hosting an e-show at my Usborne website. The e-show will run from today until Monday, November 29th. The people with the two highest purchase amounts from all orders received either at the open house or online will each receive a free Usborne Books and More item of their choice to be shipped directly to their home and a third random person will be selected from all attendees at the open house and orders received either at the open house or online. These three winners be able to select an item of their choice priced at $20 or less. This is on top of the customer specials that will be offered to each individual for every $40 that they spend! Please see this web page about customer specials.

If you would like to attend the open house, please send me an e-mail and I can give you more details on location. For your chance at receiving wonderful books for your children, family or friends plus the possibility of a free book, visit my e-show here: www.ubah.com/HOS188214.
